the neverending sleepover
about villa milka
In the language of the material world, Villa Milka is a hundred and eighty square metre house, made primarily of stone and wood, on a small hill overlooking the Athenian peninsula. Its coordinates are 38.2099° N, 24.1898° E on the south western side of Euvoia island, the second largest in Greece. It was completed in 1991. It carries the name Villa Milka, named after the first lady of the house.
She was a Balkan Mrs. Dalloway, and she always bought the flowers herself.
She loved to cook, to sing, to play cards, to talk and laugh into the night - a veritable hostess with the mostest. She would drop everything at a moment’s notice to help someone in need whether friend or stranger, often indiscriminately so. She was a bit vain, extremely coquettish well into old age, and she would always light up a room, until the very end.
This house carries her legacy and is most probably haunted by her spirit.
It now functions as a little seaside ecofemme commune, mainly with city kids who burned out in their urban origins and sought refuge in pastorality.
It is a place of rest, reflection, release, serious processing, letting go, inviting in, seeking inspiration, rebuilding oneself, diving into the delights and chaos of collective living. It is an ongoing experiment that is still refusing to be pinned down and boxed in with too specific signifiers.
The current inhabitants call the prevailing vibe ‘the neverending sleepover’.
“boundaries are the distance at which I can love you and me simultaneously.”

femme:
"a post-feminist metaphor for femme empowerment". Everybody got femmenery but it’s something you cultivate - use it or lose it.
-
tenderness
is a worthy pursuit, it nurtures, it envelops, it’s grandma energy, a safeguard your inner child needs. sometimes you get served sass cos we carry our urban, inherited or acquired neuroticisms with us, tempers run short and cups overfill, but communication is a dance, a constant encounter, a positioning and repositioning.
-
nesting
is the vibe, whether in a hammock in summertime amid a cicada cacophony, or cocooning underweighted blankets by the fireplace while wintering.
-
radical receptivity
Ready to level up? I'll equip you with the tools and strategies to stand out, get noticed, and climb that career ladder.
-
expansiveness
the pelagic view pushes you into expansion while you are here. The enormity of the sea and sky is confronting as it is liberating. time spent here can let you tune into yourself, and give a little more room to your headspace.
werk
a large household ain’t goin nowhere without regular maintenance and upkeep. so we all gotta werk. this too is grandma energy. There is always an abundance of things needing done, sanding, painting, scrubbing, sorting, composting, carpentry, gardening, cooking, cleaning, you name it, it needs doing - you see a job needing done? great, it’s yours. just coordinating and communicating with the older residents who know where the tools are and what the priorities are.

rolling residencies
A house needs residents to be a home.
A house with many rooms needs many bodies to keep it alive.
We started (and continue) to operate mainly by word of mouth and this website (that we resisted to make for 5 years now) is not for promo but rather to give newcomers a synopsis of the vibes, logistics & practicalities and help them prep for a visit. Giving people the same spiel over and over again for half a decade means you eventually want to send a link and save yourself some saliva.
The rolling residencies are tailored :) no two residencies are the same, whether in duration, intention, drives, outcomes, flavours. By now you have an idea of what Villa M is, or maybe you don’t but you’re curious to find out more. Great read on.
